A couple of weeks ago I was in Pennsylvania with Jeff and Sean, and you know what that means. Destroying things in order to building things which will eventually be used destroy things. A few months ago Sean got a long and very thick steel pipe in at the scrap yard. He saved it aside until Jeff and my next visit with the plans of turning it into a cannon. This sounded pretty dangerous to me so I, as always, was prepared with my camera, just in case anyone got hurt. Have you ever had the experience of hearing such a loud sound that it actually made you temporarily deaf? I think two weeks ago was my first actual experience with this.

I love Jeff's response to "what are we doing?" "Making a cannon" He implies a "Duh. Isn't it obvious? What else would we be doing?"
I really, really miss Jeff, Mike, Sean and I in the scrap yard.
Yeah, we missed you that weekend too. Make sure you can make it to the next trip, ay?
I know I'm late to the party here, but I actually have heard a sound that made me deaf for about 15 minutes after. My friend was experimenting with black powder (don't ask) and he got the bright idea of stuffing a small pipe with it, sticking a fuze in one end and plugging it with hot glue and then bending the other end closed. For some reason it didn't occur to me until after that he had basically made a pipe bomb... and the fact that we couldn't find it after it detonated meant that 20 feet was way too close to be standing. Oh well :)
Yeah, it's pretty amazing. We could heard after about a few seconds. I bet 15 minutes was pretty disturbing. I would definitely be freaking out that I might have lost my hearing.
